Eva Edith Miller Van Dusen Fish was born in Kingston, Frontenac County, Ontario on July 12, 1870. She was the daughter of John Wilson Miller and Victoria Zellena Dwinnell. She was baptized by the Reverend John A. Mulock at Saint Paul's Church.

She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1881. At first they lived in Minnesota and then came west to San Diego.

When she was 26, Edith married William Henry Van Dusen on August 12, 1896 in San Diego. William's brother Miles Van Dusen married Edith's sister, Hester Johnson's sister-in-law, June Johnson. William was a carpenter.

Their sons were Wilson Miles Van Dusen (July 26, 1898) and Walter D. Van Dusen  (1902). The Van Dusen family appeared in the 1900 census on India Street in San Diego, a few houses away from William and Hester Johnson. William was employed as a carpenter. The census records indicate that Edith had given birth to four children, but that only one, Wilson, was living at that time.

At the time of the 1910 census they were living in Seattle. The household consisted of William age 45, Eva age 39, Wilson age 11, and Walter age 7. William was a hotel keeper.

Edith and William divorced.

Edith Eva Van Dusen married Dova Ira Fish in 1916 in Clarke County, Washington. He was 39 and she was 45.

Dova was born December 6, 1876 in Indiana. His parents were Oscar Holden Fish and Martha Jane Anderson.

In 1920 they were living in Seattle. The household consisted of Dova F. Fish age 44, Edith E. age 49, Wilson M. Van Dusen age 21, and Walter D. Van Dusen age 17. Dova was working as an inspector and Wilson was a cook.

Edith's son Walter died in November, 1923. 

Dova and Edith divorced befor3e 1833 when Dova Ira Fish married Edith Eliza Hurlbert on April 15, 1933 in King County, Washington at her home on Fenton Avenue.

According to Edith's niece, Hester Miller,

they had a church in San Francisco - a sort of faith healing type. Edith was said to have certain powers of that type, and ESP and [Hester] was sure to her own knowledge that she did have. 

Edith was called Reverend in her son's obituary.

Edith died on May 27, 1936 and buried at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma, San Mateo County, California.

Dova died on September 12, 1952 in Renton, King County, Washington.

County Native, Dova Fish, Dies
A Lawrence County native and former schoolteacher, Dova Ira Fish, died of a heart attack last Friday at his home in Ronton. Washington, Burial was in Ronton. He was born December 5, 1876, Oscar H. and Jane Anderson Fish and lived to manhood near the Mt. Pleasant Church. Mr. Fish taught school in the county for several years before going to the West, where he be came a lumberman.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Edith E. Fish; one sister, Mrs. Fiances Black. 1523 Fourth street; one brother, Ed A. Fish, R.R. 4, Bedford; an uncle, Ira Anderson, Bedford; and many cousins and friends: One brother, Claude A. Fish, died eight years ago.

In this city, May 27, Rev. Edith E. Fish, pastor of Eternal Truth and Natural Spiritual Church, dearly beloved mother of Wilson Van Dusen. A member of Skagit Rebekah Lodge No. 82, I.O.O.F., Mt. Vernon, Washington.

Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Monday, June 1st, at 2 p.m. from Chapel of California Undertaking Co.. 100 Fillmore St.
